Why I Do What I Do
As an Integrative Health Practitioner, mom of two wild-spirited boys, and co-founder of the Wild Blueberry Project, I know how important it is to be in good health. I believe that food is our medicine, and everyone should have the opportunity to optimize their health. Educating my family, community, and clients on how they can live their healthiest life is my greatest passion.
Years ago, I found myself struggling with chronic infections and a never-ending list of mystery symptoms that most doctors had no idea how to fix. After giving birth to my first child, my dis-ease symptoms appeared. Infertility, chronic fatigue, chronic sinusitis, skin rashes, severe allergies, chronic bladder infections, hair loss, digestive issues, weight gain, and hormonal imbalances were my new normal. I went to many different doctors hoping to get some answers. Yet, all of my appointments ended in the same way, my doctor telling me my blood work looked normal and then prescribed me an anti-depressant. I knew deep down that there had to be a different way and I was not going to take anti-depressants for the symptoms I was experiencing.
Not long after, I was blessed to have found a wonderful naturopathic doctor who went to the root of my symptoms. She did this with lengthy health assessments and functional lab testing. Finally, I had some answers and that’s when my healing journey began. Removing my toxicities and then re-balancing my deficiencies catalyzed major positive changes within my body and mind. I could feel myself getting stronger and my symptoms slowly disappeared.
For the past ten years, I’ve been on the path of integrative health and mind-body alignment. Integrative health models find underlying root-cause solutions, helping to reduce disease risk by combining a whole person (mind and body) approach to healing. Mind-body connection is the belief that our thoughts, emotions, and feelings can impact the health of our physical bodies. Have you ever experienced butterflies in your stomach when you’re really nervous, started shaking when you’re extremely angry, or worried yourself sick? These are examples of your emotions and thoughts having an impact on your physical body. I will help you cultivate a healthy mind-body connection by giving you tools and exercises that benefit mind-body alignment. One cannot heal the body without first addressing the mind and state of the nervous system.
After years of study in nutrition science, Integrative Health Practitioner training, and overcoming my own health issues, I can’t wait to help you look and feel like your best self. There is a light and vitality shining within you, however dim or bright it may be, I see it, and can’t wait to help you kindle that light inside of you.
